Barwon Health named top site in palliative care research initiative

Barwon Health’s Palliative Care team has been recognised as the top-performing site in a global initiative led by the University of Technology Sydney’s IMPACCT (Improving Palliative, Aged and Chronic Care through Clinical Research and Translation).

As part of the project titled ‘RAPID’, the team achieved the highest patient recruitment numbers internationally in the latest quarter, earning the coveted “Champion Site” status.

The RAPID project involves multi-centre data collection to assess the long-term effectiveness of interventions, including medications and nursing practices. Barwon Health’s nursing team played a standout role, recruiting 16 patients for a study on interventions for constipation. This contribution led to an invitation to join the RAPID General Committee, demonstrating their expertise and leadership in the field.
