Background

While completing a Bachelor of Arts/Science double degree I was lucky enough to secure a Research Assistant role in a cardiovascular laboratory at Monash University. This role really sparked my love of research, and respect for the evidence which underpins and informs clinical practice.

From this foundation I retrained as a Registered Nurse, specialising in Cardiothoracic nursing with a postgraduate certificate and became a Clinical Nurse Specialist at St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne. During 12 years at St V’s I was lucky enough to work part time in Nursing Research at the St Vincent’s Centre for Nursing Research, and also enjoy some sessional teaching work in the School of Nursing, Deakin University.

After moving to Geelong I joined the fantastic team at Geelong Hospital in the Cardiology unit working in CCU and Cardiothoracics. This led to my current position as a Study Coordinator in Cardiac Research in the Adrian Costa Clinical Trials Centre. I feel so privileged to have been involved in the care across different stages of patients’ journeys during my career so far. I am excited to contribute to the development of new knowledge and treatment options for people living with heart disease going forward.

Research Focus

I am currently working on clinical trials in both heart failure prevention, and a new treatment option for adults living with atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease and obesity. These clinical studies are so important for advancement of treatment options and it is a real privilege to work with participants on these studies.
