Anaesthetics – Maddi Newell

Background

I’m a senior research nurse with a dual role in anaesthetic research and clinical care. I currently share my time between coordinating investigator-initiated trials and working as a clinical nurse specialist in anaesthetics and recovery. While working in anaesthetics, I completed a post-graduate certificate in anaesthetic and recovery nursing to enhance my clinical expertise and am currently completing further education in clinical trials to strengthen my research capabilities.

Research Focus

I’m passionate about investigator-initiated trials because they address important clinical questions & ultimately improve patient outcomes. What I find most rewarding in this role is being a consistent, reassuring presence for participants throughout their surgical journey—advocating on their behalf and making a meaningful difference in their overall experience.
