Background

I have been working as a senior musculoskeletal physiotherapist at Barwon Health for the past 7 years but have over a decade of clinical experience across acute, private, community and specialised hospital settings.

I received a Bachelor of Physiotherapy with honours in 2013 at Charles Sturt University and completed a Graduate Certificate in Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy in 2022 with Latrobe University. I have also completed a traineeship in the Emergency Department in 2021 credentialling as an advanced practice primary contact physiotherapist.

Currently I work in a Primary contact role across Emergency Department and Urgent Care Centre and a senior physiotherapist role at Cherry Creek Youth Justice Facility.

I have recently received the BHDU Clinician Scientist Pathway scholarship and am currently working as PhD Candidate/Trial coordinator on the EMPOWER Trial.

Research Focus

I am currently working as a trial coordinator/PhD Candidate with the EMPOWER (Exercise and MenoPausal hOrmones for postmenopausal WomEn with shouldeR pain) Trial which is a triple blinded pilot trial investigating whether menopausal hormone therapy (MHT), when combined with evidence-based physiotherapy exercise and education, can improve pain and function in tendon-related shoulder pain for postmenopausal women.

Led by researchers from Barwon Health and Deakin University, the EMPOWER Trial is the first study to investigate MHT as a treatment option for SAPS. The primary aim is to determine whether a larger clinical trial is feasible, while also examining early indications of treatment effectiveness. Findings from this research may help inform future shoulder pain management strategies for postmenopausal women and contribute to improving clinical care both locally and internationally.
