Background
I completed my education through Deakin University from 2015-2022, with degrees awarded in a Bachelor of Biomedical Science (infection and Immunity Major), Bachelor of Health and Medical Science (Honours) and a PhD (Medicine).
My Doctorate was titled on the ‘The Human-Staphylococcus aureus relationship; Predicting disease presentation in bacteraemia’, which utilised microbiology, molecular biology and clinical epidemiology to identify factors that could improve outcomes in bloodstream infections.
Following my degree, I continued my infectious disease research as a research fellow, and also branched out into clinical trials coordination, including as a site coordinator in the global Staphylococcus aureus Network Adaptive Platform (SNAP) trial.
Research Focus
While continuing my research in infectious disease, my role as a Clinical Trial Research Support Service/Australian Teletrials Program site officer aims to expand access to clinical trials for people in regional and rural areas, as well assist and optimise the clinical trial experience for investigators, coordinators and most importantly the participants.
Awards & Achievements
- Chaired the Community and Research Network (2021-2026), a group with aims to improving community co-design in research
- Supervised 3 Honour’s students (2024-Current) and is currently supervising 1 PhD student (Deakin University)
